Past Projects:

When a non-profit found its employees in conflict with their Executive Director, we were invited to facilitate two staff retreats, where we held restorative dialogues to allow all voices to be heard, to identify needs, and collectively create a path forward. During our time we even did staff assessments on strengths to see how they complimented one another in their skill sets. Here is what their Board Chair had to say:

"I found myself, as chair of the Board of a non-profit, in need of a facilitator to work with the office staff. The work environment had become fraught in a number of ways, and the Board approved funding for two staff retreats intended to improve working relationships. I immediately thought Restorative Encounters would be the perfect facilitators, because in addition to healing relations between perpetrators and their victims, restorative justice practices are also used to heal relationships in common, everyday environments.

I had the pleasure of witnessing the Restorative Encounters team in action as they worked with the members of our staff at the retreats. They used creative techniques throughout: setting up a safe space for open sharing; exploring the unique strengths of each employee; inviting honest dialogue; encouraging group problem-solving. I especially appreciated the wisdom and wit the team brought to every facet of their work. At the end of each retreat, we as the Board were provided an in-depth summary report, with an outline of agreed-upon steps going forward. Based on these reports, we created a tool, “The Staff Values Questionnaire,” for the staff to monitor progress in relationship-building. We are looking forward to having the team facilitate our Annual Board Retreat as well and bring the same professionalism and creativity to our strategic planning."
